That envy from all those other men is worth a lot to that rich old guy, and he can afford to make it attractive for the woman.
Burisma CEO, Nikolai Zlochevskyi, can strut around Europe saying, "I've got the son of the American Vice President as my lawyer.... aren't you jealous".
That is a plausible theory.
Another would be that the Burisma CEO needed certain tasks that an influential politician could deliver. ..paying for this service through shell companies to conceal the nature of the business.
